In Feb 2021, we had planned to visit a hill station, Chail. We started from Kurukshetra and on the way to Chail, we spotted some snow on road. About 10 km before Chail palace, heavy snow fall started. Roads were completed blocked 4 km before our hotel.
We called up hotel front office to know if hotel is open. Hotel staff informed us that the hotel is closed due to heavy snow fall. They also told us that they have shifted our booking The Pinewood hotel at Barog. It was another 50 km drive from Chail to Barog hotel.
We started driving on snowy road and headed towards Barog . Upon reaching hotel, very heavy snowfall started and traffic was completely stopped for next few hours. Thank god we reached hotel on time.
Hotel reception staff gave us options to select room of our choice. And we opted for the best one, suite with big a balcony to get amazing view of snowfall.
We spent entire day playing in snow. And late night, when all were tired, we enjoyed delicious dinner, Kadai paneer – my favorite, Dal makhana and more.
We stayed here for 3 nights and visited surrounding places like Barog heritage railway station and Sadhupul river side area. Unfortunately we couldn’t setup day camp, as we were not able to find a suitable location.
Overall it was a lifetime experience of feeling snowfall in real and enjoying mountain cuisines in winters.
